Offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted; then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday. (Isaiah 58:10)

Opportunities for people of all ages to help feed our neighbors

St. John’s Blessing Box

At our Blessing Box or “little free food pantry,” located on church property between the driveway and Farmington Avenue, people are invited to take what they need and leave what they can. HOW TO HELP: Leave nonperishable food in the Blessing Box any time! Ready-to-eat options are especially helpful: granola or protein bars, pop-top cans of soup or pasta, peanut butter, tuna, applesauce, mac and cheese cups, instant rice and beans.

West Hartford Food Pantry

About once a month, a parish volunteer delivers nonperishable food donations to the West Hartford Food Pantry at town hall. HOW TO HELP: Bring donated food to church and leave it in the wagon labeled for this purpose. Items needed include shelf-stable milk, pasta and sauce, mac and cheese, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, rice, canned vegetables and fruit, applesauce, canned soup and pasta.

Sandwiches for Loaves & Fishes

Once a month, we gather after a Sunday service to make and donate 200 sandwiches, which the Loaves & Fishes feeding ministry gives to clients to supplement their weekday hot meal program. HOW TO HELP: Donate sandwich supplies and stay after church to help make sandwiches on designated Sundays. Subscribe to our e-newsletters for information and a link to sign up.
