In the fall of 2025, St. John’s launched the second capital campaign
in the parish’s history.
St. John’s Deep Roots, New Life capital campaign was a huge success. Thanks to the generosity of many faithful parishioners, we received 143 pledges for just over $2.3 million — exceeding our $2 million campaign goal by more than $300,000!
The money raised will support four projects to support St. John’s mission and ministries, now and into the future:
- HVAC system: A new energy-efficient HVAC system was installed in late 2024/early 2025, funded by a bank loan and a loan from our endowment. Thanks to generous donors who contributed all or a substantial portion of their capital campaign pledge last fall, we have already paid the bank and the endowment back for those funds, allowing us to save money on loan interest and support the endowment’s growth and longevity.
- Education wing: Reconfiguring and freshening our education space will allow us to better serve the young people and families participating in our growing programs for children and youth, and provide additional flexible space for other uses. We are moving ahead with renovation plans and will have an update on timing in spring 2026.
- Security: We will invest in new security technology to support safety and hospitality for parish programs and the many other activities that take place in our building every week, including recovery meetings, ESOL and citizenship classes, and music events. The St. John’s house committee is finalizing plans with our contractor to install security enhancements in the spring of 2026.
- Endowment: Prudent, sustainable draws from the St. John’s endowment support the annual operating budget, allowing us to respond to God’s call by investing in our ministries. Campaign funds not used for capital projects will be added to the endowment to help ensure its future health, so that we can be responsive, open, generous, and creative in fulfilling our mission for many years to come.
The Deep Roots, New Life campaign was a parish-wide effort that succeeded thanks to the vision, generosity, and hard work of many. Special thanks go to our campaign co-chairs, Eleanor Barnes and Virginia Van Dyk; the St. John’s vestry and staff; the 40+ volunteer “askers” who reached out to parishioners to invite their campaign participation; and of course, to every individual and household who made a campaign pledge. Thank you for being a vital part of St. John’s present and future!
