Words: Matthew 6: 20-21
Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
And where thieves do not break through and steal.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Ned Miller Rorem was an American composer of contemporary classical music and a writer. Best known for his art songs, which number over 500, Rorem was considered the leading American of his time writing in the genre. Frequently described as a neoromantic composer, he showed limited interest in the emerging modernist aesthetic of his lifetime. As a writer, he published numerous diaries in which he spoke candidly of his exchanges and relationships with many cultural figures of America and France.

Philip Radcliffe states: “I attended evensong in the Chapel of my future College (King’s College, Cambridge) and can still recall the impact made upon me by the quiet, other-world sound of the choir. He became a music fellow at King’s College in 1931, and a lecturer between 1947 and 1972. He lived in King’s for the rest of his life, never leaving it for more than a few weeks. Radcliffe’s compositions include short choral pieces, liturgical music, songs, and a small number of instrumental works.
