by Geoff Emerick and Virginia Van Dyk, wardens — What an amazing time to be a part of the St. John’s family! We launched the program year with our new priest in charge, Todd FitzGerald. We are inspired by amazing sermons from Todd and Margie, and extraordinary music from the adult and youth choirs.
Sometimes, we can be so transported by the glory of a Sunday service that we neglect to think about all that our talented clergy and staff, and a host of dedicated volunteers, do to make it happen. For each Sunday service, preparations begin weeks before, with each of our clergy and staff doing their part, along with our committed cadre of volunteers who serve as altar guild members, ushers, acolytes, layreaders, choir members, and more. Todd and Margie write their sermons and prepare for adult and youth Christian education. Scott selects and rehearses organ pieces and leads choir rehearsals on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Dwight ensures that the church building and grounds are in perfect condition, the pews are spotless, the doors are open, and the lights are on. Peggy manages our finances to make sure we have the resources required for keeping the building in perfect condition and the lights on! Ellen helps coordinate the cadre of volunteers who come together every Sunday. With expert skill, she writes and designs the bulletin, including artwork or a photograph on the cover and eye-catching announcements of upcoming events within.
And that is just for Sunday worship! Other days are also filled with opportunities for parishioners and neighbors to find inspiration, support, and connection, all made possible by our amazing St. John’s team. Your pledge for 2022 will help retain and equip our team of clergy, staff, and lay volunteers, ensuring that we have the resources needed to do God’s work in this parish and beyond.
