Worship, pray and study with St. John’s online

Prayer resources for children (and grown-ups too!)
Into your spacious heart and loving hands, dear God, I place my fears, my “what ifs,” my spinning world and mind… Comfort me with the truth; no fear is too big for the Great One, who is always with me. I am never alone. Calming God, bring courage. Tender Spirit, breathe peace. Gentle Jesus, be close. Amen.
That’s one of the prayers from Illustrated Ministry’s free coloring pages with prayers for when we feel anxious. Another free resource from Illustrated Ministry is a coloring page titled “Today I pray for….”
Click below for PDFs of these two resources, which you and your children can print and color at home. We’d love to see and share the results! Send photos of completed artwork to us at [email protected] or [email protected] and let us know if we can share them on our social media pages.
Ways to connect
Join us for Happy Hour – Friday at 5 p.m.
Pour a beverage of your choice, and join us via Zoom from your couch or kitchen table. Depending on how many people participate, we’ll divide up into smaller groups to allow for conversation. All ages are welcome!
Keep us informed of pastoral care needs
Are you or someone in your family sick? Are you struggling with loneliness or anxiety? Are you a parent of young children who could use a conversation with another adult? Please reach out to our clergy, Susan Pinkerton (rector) and Margie Baker (curate) by confidential e-mail. You may also call us at 860-523-5201 and leave a message in the general voicemail box, in a particular clergy or staff person’s voicemail box, or on our pastoral emergency line if your need is urgent. We are retrieving voicemail messages regularly.
Request healing prayers
Our healing prayer team is on call to pray with and for you. To request prayers for yourself or someone else, e-mail the parish manager, Ellen, with your preferred contact information. She will pass the information on to one of our healing prayer ministers, who will reach out to you. All prayer requests will remain confidential.
Ways to give
We need your gifts and pledges now more than ever, as clergy and staff continue to provide worship and pastoral care, and maintain our beloved building and grounds. As you are able (and we understand that for some of you, circumstances have changed drastically and you are not able), please help support that work by continuing to give to the church. We can still receive and process checks through the mail, or you may give online by credit card through our web site.
The Loaves & Fishes feeding program and the West Hartford Food Pantry are both in need of nonperishable food to help feed our neighbors. Please contact Loaves and Fishes or the West Hartford Food pantry directly for information about what they need and how to drop it off.
Foodshare is continuing to provide neighborhood deliveries of food and supply local food pantries with items. They have an urgent need for additional funds to help them continue their work. Donate to Foodshare online.
Journey Home is working hard to ensure that residents in local shelters are safe and that those who are most vulnerable to COVID-19 are isolated. Donate to Journey Home online.
Send us your photos!
Our parishioner Danielle F. is taking advantage of her time at home to nurture seedlings destined for her farm as well as St. John’s community garden. Send us your photos of how you’re staying busy, sane and connected during this strange time, and we’ll share them on our Facebook page. We can get through this together!
