We are thrilled to announce that Margie Baker has been hired to serve as curate at St. John’s. “Curate” is a term for a clergy person who has just finished seminary and is in their first professional position. Margie will graduate from Virginia Theological Seminary in May, be ordained as a transitional deacon in North Carolina in early June, and preach here at St. John’s for the first time on June 16, 2019. In her position as curate, Margie will develop and oversee a refreshed Christian formation program for children, youth and their families, along with preaching, pastoral care, and other clergy duties. She has particular interest in liturgy and music as well. Before going to seminary, Margie taught high school French and music for a dozen years. Margie, her wife Jenn, and their children are excited about coming to West Hartford, and the St. John’s community is excited to welcome them!
