Baptisms
Baptisms may be scheduled with the clergy. With few exceptions, baptisms take place during Sunday worship. Baptisms are not scheduled during the season of Lent. Each person presented for Baptism, regardless of age, should have at least two sponsors, both of whom must be baptized Christians, although they need not be Episcopalians.
The vows and promises made at Baptism are solemn, serious vows. Anyone presenting a child for Baptism should take seriously the promises they make, which include raising the child in the Church. The Baptismal Vows and Covenant may be found on pages 302-305 of The Book of Common Prayer.
