We give to St. John's because it is an important part of our life
I was a member of St. John's as a youth. I was confirmed here, served as an acolyte and my father was a member of the Vestry. My family moved out of the area 30 years ago, and with the exception of my grandfather's funeral in 1987, I hadn't been back to St. John's until last year when I returned to West Hartford with my own family from New York City.
I was both curious and hopeful when Virginia, Eleanor, Caroline and I came back to St. John's on Welcome Back Sunday in September of 2010. Curious as to how much had changed, curious as to how many names or faces would be familiar, and hopeful that we would feel the welcome and sense of belonging that I long associated with St. John's. I was not disappointed. We immediately felt a part of the St. John's community and have become increasingly involved since that first day. Virginia and I love the fact that our girls are part of a thriving and supportive youth program. We give to St. John's because it is an important part of our life - as individuals, as a family and as members of the community.
