Our Companion Parish -- Santa Cruz del Norte
In 2002, the Global Missions committee selected the Episcopal Parish of Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba for a Companion Relationship with St. Johns. The Companion Relationship is for the purpose of bonding the parishes of St. John's and Santa Cruz.
Global Mission’s objective is to nurture this relationship through Church to Church/people to people support activities which benefit both parishes. This requires continuing communication and has resulted in four trips to the island to participate in religious activities, service actions and church related social events.
The committee has been successful in overcoming communication problems and arranging for legal travel to the island. St. John’s Parish is currently licensed to travel to Cuba through January 31, 2013.
